# Why do it this way?
I don't like having to launch a GUI launcher (Steam) in order to launch another GUI launcher (GRYPHLINK?) in order to launch a game. Wine and Proton are both open source projects, so we can use them outside of Steam.
Despite its name, `umu-launcher` can be called from the CLI, which means we can use a single shell script to launch the game. This shell script can then be tied to a .desktop file, making for a seamless experience.
# Setup
## Install umu-launcher
### Gentoo
Install `eselect-repository` if you haven't already, it allows you to manage overlays.
```
eselect repository enable guru
emaint sync -r guru
emerge -a games-util/umu-launcher
```
### Arch
```
pacman -S umu-launcher
```
### Ubuntu / Debian
Go [here](https://github.com/Open-Wine-Components/umu-launcher/releases), download the .deb file that corresponds to your distribution and install it.
```
sudo apt install ./umu-launcher_*_amd64.deb
```
## Unzip the official launcher
### NOTE: Modify the folder locations to whatever you have on your PC
1) Download it from the [official website](https://endfield.gryphline.com).
2) Extract the archive using p7zip
- 7z x /home/bronze/Downloads/GRYPHLINK_*_endfield.exe -o/mnt/games/games/endfield_extracted/
- Every distro should have this package.
3) Rename the `$0` folder to launcher, you can probably delete the other `$` folder.
4) Copy the launcher exe up a folder.
- For some reason it doesnt like being in the launcher folder.
- cp -v /mnt/games/endfield_extracted/launcher/1.2.2/Launcher.exe /mnt/games/endfield_extracted/launcher/Launcher.exe
- The version numbers change every release, so 1.2.2 above may be something else.
5) Edit `launcher-endfield.sh` to point to `/mnt/games/endfield_extracted/launcher/Launcher.exe` (the launcher you just copied)
- Also edit the location of the prefix to wherever you want it to be.
6) Run `launcher-endfield.sh`, install the game and enjoy!
